Who are we?

SweetTree Fields Farm is a therapeutic environment specifically designed to engage, inspire and encourage the participation of everyone in our farm community.

We are a Care Farm whose focus is to support individuals with learning disabilities, brain injuries, dementia and mental health issues. For some it is about developing practical, workplace skills to help people into employment, for others it is about developing life skills and social/community participation.

What is care farming?

Care farming, often referred to as social farming, is an innovative approach that utilizes farming and agricultural activities to provide therapeutic, rehabilitative, or educational support to individuals facing various challenges, such as physical or mental health issues, disabilities, or social exclusion.

It aims to promote well-being, personal development, and social inclusion through engagement with nature, animals, and the farming environment. Care farms offer a range of structured activities tailored to the needs of participants, fostering a sense of belonging, purpose, and connection to the natural world while also contributing to the local community and sustainable agriculture.

Care farming is an emerging field of clinical practice that recognises the benefits that interacting with animals, plants and greenery can bring. It has been shown to have many benefits for people with a range of care needs, and of all ages and abilities. It is also a great way to increase physical activity levels within a social environment and can be incredibly rewarding.
